New York Jets Lose 34-28, Still Winless This Season

Frank Gore scored a touchdown, making it a third decade where he scored a touchdown. Joe Flacco scored two touchdowns, while giving up one interception, for a touchdown. Justin Herbert scored three touchdowns, throwing for 366 yards, in the win over New York. And the New York Jets became the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention.
New York Jets lost another game, this time to the Los Angeles Chargers 34-28. Things started right for the Jets in the first quarter with special teams, when they stopped a punt and recovered the ball on the Chargers’ 29 yard line. From there, four plays later, La’Mical Perine scored the first touchdown of the game, but the extra point kick went wide left.
Still in the first quarter, the Jets defense produce another turnover, picking up a fumble after a drop by Keenan Allen, but only one play into the Jets drive, and Joe Flacco threw an interception for a touchdown by the Chargers’ Tevaughn Campbell, and the extra point was good, to make it 7-6.
Chargers increased their lead on their opening drive in the second quarter. Mike Williams got through two defenders after a pass by Herbert, and ran uncovered for the touchdown.
After a short drive by the Jets, ending in a punt, the Los Angeles scored another touchdown in the second quarter, running 7 plays for 72 yards, scoring with a Hunter Henry catch of 2 yards, and after the extra point kick, making it 21-6 Chargers.
Right before half time, the Chargers increased their lead with a field goal to 24-6 at the half time.
Quick into the third quarter, Jets have a lively drive and score a touchdown on a long throw to make it 24-13 after the extra point kick for the Chargers.
After Los Angeles scored on a 12 play drive, to make it 31-13, New York came right back with a 10 play, 75 yard, drive to make it 31-19 after another extra point miss.
Los Angeles opened the 4th quarter by running a lot of the clock down with a 16 play drive field goal, to make the game 34-19.
Chris Herndon score a touchdown, after a 6 yard throw from Flacco, scoring on a 9 play, 75 yard, to make it 34-26 with 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
The Jets tried to win the game, scoring on a safety, to make it 34-28, but it was too late.
