Sam Darnold looked terrible, throwing for two interceptions and had less than 200 yards in the air. Jets defense had two fumble recoveries, while Ryan Fitzpatrick looked great, throwing for two touchdowns and 257 yards, keeping Miami in the hunt for a playoff spot.
After the Jets scored on a field goal by Sergio Castillo, the Dolphins tied the game with their own field goal by Jason Sanders.
Miami then scored a touchdown on a 10 play, 88 yards, culminating in a Fitzpatrick throw of 13 yards to Mike Gesicki to make it 10-3 after the extra point.
After another field goal by Miami, Fitzpatrick threw a seven yard touchdown pass after a 7 play, 80 yard drive to Adam Shaheen to seal the score.
New York managed to have a fumble recovery by Harvey Langi and Neville Hewitt, but that did not help them score, with Sam Darnold giving them back by throwing two interceptions and a missed filed goal by Castillo right before half time.
Darnold after the game was said: “I’ve got to be better. I didn’t play well enough to win a ballgame today.”
With this loss the Jets are the still the only team this season with no wins, risking the black mark of 0-16 season, so far only achieved by the 2008 Detroit Lions and 2017 Cleveland Browns. However, even with no wins, the Jets are looking like they are planning for the future by tanking this season, with nine draft picks in the 2021 draft alone.
