Denzel Mims, one of the bright spots of the New York Jets this 0-12 season, has missed his daily COVID-19 test due to going back to Texas for a family emergency and will not be eligible to play against the Seattle Seahawks this weekend.
Adam Gase, head coach of the Jets, said “he’s a big reason why we’ve had some better games since he’s been playing. The protocols are what they are. He had to handle family business, which we support because we felt like it was the right thing for him to do.”
Mims, picked up in the second round of the draft from Baylor, has played well recently after coming back from several hamstring injuries that made him miss the first six games of the season. In the six games he did play, he achieved 19 receptions for 324 yards but no touchdowns.
